Plumbing and Heating
Students in the Plumbing and Heating program learn to properly install and service domestic water pumps, plumbing fixtures, drainage and vent lines, and potable water lines during the first year of classroom and lab experiences. The Maine state plumbing code will be discussed in detail. The student will be eligible to sit for the Maine Plumbers’ Journeyman exam, and, if successful, will be allowed to receive a Journeyman in Training License.
Other courses cover heating, refrigeration, propane, and natural gas, solar heating systems, and heat pump installation. Students will have the opportunity to sit for the Maine Journeyman’s exam for #1 & #2 oil up to 15 G.P.M. and for national certification exams in propane and natural gas and refrigerant handling.
Graduates will be qualified for many employment opportunities in the plumbing, heating, and cooling field, including service technicians, installers, sales, and eventually self-employment.
